What does this recipe provide?
It combines rice, walnuts and sesame in an ordinary meal. The quantities are a suggested food portion, not a therapeutic dose. No evidence cited here establishes that the porridge restores hair colour, improves intelligence or treats kidney disease. In traditional writing, “Kidney” can carry a different meaning from the anatomical organ; a food name should not blur that distinction.
Check allergies before cooking
Walnuts are tree nuts and sesame is also a major food allergen. The FDA’s sesame-allergen guidance explains its inclusion among the nine major allergens in US food labelling. Check every ingredient and avoid cross-contact with equipment used for an allergen. Do not try a small taste as a home test after a previous reaction.
How to make one bowl
- Rinse 40 g of rice. Place it in a pan with 400–500 ml of water.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer gently, stirring as needed to prevent sticking.
- Finely chop 10 g of walnut kernels and add them while the rice cooks.
- When the rice is soft, stir in 5 g of ground black sesame. Add water if needed and heat through.
- Cool to a comfortable temperature before eating. Sweetener is optional.
Cooking time depends on the rice and pan; use softness rather than a fixed minute as the endpoint. The photograph shows a black-sesame porridge example, not an exact nutritional representation of this recipe.
How does it fit into a meal pattern?
One bowl does not replace varied meals or prescribed care. The NHS Eatwell Guide places nuts, seeds, grains and other foods within a broader pattern of eating. Choose other meals across the day to provide variety. If you have a medical diet or swallowing restrictions, ask the professional managing that plan how a nut-and-seed porridge would fit.
